二月二，傳說是堯王的誕辰。在南方，如客家地區(qū)等，是土地公公的生日，稱“土地誕”，為給土地公公“暖壽”，有的地方有舉辦“土地會(huì)”的習(xí)俗：家家湊錢為土地神祝賀生日，到土地廟燒香祭祀，敲鑼鼓，放鞭炮。同時(shí)，北方地區(qū)在節(jié)日期間也有吃豬頭肉、理發(fā)（剪“龍頭”）的習(xí)俗。

It begins when the Sun reachesthe celestial longitude of 345° and ends when it reaches the longitude of 360°.It more often refers in particular to the day when the Sun is exactly at thecelestial longitude of 345°. In the Gregorian calendar, it usually beginsaround March 5 and ends around March 20.

農(nóng)歷中將一年分為24個(gè)節(jié)氣，驚蟄是第三個(gè)，通常指太陽(yáng)位于黃經(jīng)345度時(shí)的那一天，也即差不多在陽(yáng)歷3月5日到3月20日之間。

The word 驚蟄 has the meaning of awakening ofhibernated insects. 驚 is startling, and 蟄 is hibernated (insects). The traditional Chinese farming culturesaid that during Jingzhe, thunderstorms will wake up the hibernated insects,which also means the weather is getting warm.

“驚蟄”意為“驚醒冬眠的昆蟲”。驚蟄期間，雷雨增多，因此冬眠的蟲類會(huì)被驚起，這也意味著天氣會(huì)越來越暖。

It’s also referred to as Longtaitou Festival or Dragon-Head-RaisingFestival. In the tradition of Chinese culture, the dragon is believed to be theking of all insects and at same time, it is also believed to be in charge ofbringing rains, and both of these are important factors in ancient agriculturalsociety.

驚蟄又被稱作“龍?zhí)ь^”，因?yàn)辇堃惶ь^，就會(huì)下雨嘛。在農(nóng)業(yè)社會(huì)，人們相當(dāng)看重一年的降雨。

Today, Longtaitou Festival is celebrated in various ways, most ofwhich are still identical to those practiced in the ancient times, includingeating Chinese pancakes and noodles. Perfume bags filled with the powder ofground fragrant herbs are made to be carried by women and children for goodfortune, though they are no longer used as insect repellent as in ancienttimes.
