China's ding ning and zhu yuling, Japan's ishikawa jiacheng and China's Taipei's Chen yijing advanced to the final four after winning the 28-day qualifier and the 28-day semifinal eight. The four players will compete in today's semifinals and final to win the 2018 women's World Cup.

One of the biggest things to watch at this World Cup is zhu yuling's ability to retain the women's singles title. In the 2017 women's table tennis World Cup, zhu yuling won the World Cup for the first time in her career, winning the singles World Cup for the first time. Zhu entered the competition easily with a 4-0 win over eholm of Sweden and polkanova of Austria.

There are 20 players in this women's table tennis World Cup. Ding ning, as the champion of the world table tennis championships, automatically qualified for the competition. In addition to the Rio Olympic bronze medallist Kim soon-yi of north Korea, all the other participants were selected from various continental cups, including Asian cup champion zhu yuling, African cup champion mei sheyu, Pan-American cup champion zhang mo, Oceania cup champion hong jianfang and European cup champion sassokos.
