一提到The Carpenters大家一定會想起他們的《Yesterday Once More》、《Close to You》等，這對兄妹組合無疑是七十年代最成功的流行音樂組合之一，他們在八十年代初結束演藝生涯前創(chuàng)作了無數好歌。雖然最先顯現音樂天才的是哥哥Richard，可是妹妹Karen那近乎完美和極富感情的嗓音卻更深地印刻在我們的心里。

　　整個70年代后期，他們已開始走下坡路。身體欠佳對卡朋特兄妹的打擊更是雪上加霜：理查德不幸染上了“藥癮”為了戒癮，他在1978年進入了一家診所接受治療；卡倫則因為節(jié)食而患上了厭食癥。1983年2月4日，人們發(fā)現卡倫暈倒在她父母的房間里。當天，卡倫因厭食引起生物功能紊亂導致心臟病發(fā)作，在醫(yī)院里告別人世。

　　《Top of The World》由Karen Carpenter演唱。Karen去世后，有人根據她的生平拍成一部《The story of Karen Carpenter》。影片里，她是正在唱《Top of The World》這首歌時，因體力不支，身體太虛弱，突然暈倒在舞臺上。后被送往醫(yī)院搶救，終因長時間患“神經性厭食癥”，最終沒能夠挽救她年輕的生命?！禩op of The World》成了卡倫的絕唱。
